Valerie Reid: A Heartfelt Sanctuary for Elderly Dogs

Valerie Reid is a shining example of hope and compassion, two things in short supply in today’s world. This amazing woman turned her love for animals into a mission that would forever change the lives of old dogs everywhere.

Loving Dogs With A Passion

Valerie’s journey started with a major love of old dogs, and the urge to give big second chances. Every year thousands of senior dogs are abandoned or end up in shelters, knowing even if they get adopted it might be to an unfamiliar place where time is not on their side. So the simple contemplation of their loyal friends having died alone nagged at Valerie.

A Home Turned Hospice

Valerie took the plunge, knowing she needed to do something. She knew how to relax and take care of older dogs that needed a little TLC. The vision of an end-of-life sanctuary initially took the form of one simple act and quickly evolved into what we now know as a full-fledged hospice that provided dying dogs with love, warmth, and dignity in their final days.

That is no ordinary dwelling; she looks after between four and seven dogs — sometimes more. The walls are decorative, full of happy little goodies — this is just a very nice space to sit down. Valerie’s hospice has soft beds and toys all over for elderly dogs to roam .

The Love and Support from a Community

It can extend beyond anything related to just simply providing a roof and extends into creating community-based support for dogs and dog guardians as well. The shelter is inundated with volunteers who come in to help her take care of the dogs and provide happiness, companionship and love for all its four-legged inhabitants. Valerie has been able to sustain this amazing initiative due to fundraisers and donations, so that the mission of love would not stop.

Making a Lasting Impact

Valerie Reid’s story inspires millions and gives hope to so many. Her home being a hospice for dogs showing us that the strength of character and humility are traits this society needs to reassess. Her commitment reminds us that every human life is precious and worthy of protection.

Valerie is a real hero — so many animals are being displaced in the world today! The efforts of the dogs she looks after in every way that her work becomes a part of make an impact on their lives, as well all those who know about it.

The lovely Valerie Reid, another one of those incredible lady’s who wear many hats and are saving dogs by the half dozen everyday around us, speaks out for all dogs so that not one should be left wanting love up until their last breath.
