A Surprising Visitor
We had a wonderful surprise from our patio doors last night. When we finished dinner, a little beagle puppy came to greet us. She was whimpering and pushing at the glass. We stared at each other, wondering what to do.
A Friendly Beagle
There was a spark of life in those beagle eyes. She was acting as if she wanted to get inside. She was wearing a collar with one of those annoyingly noisy red tags. So that convinced us she probably did have someone. But where was her owner?
Deciding What to Do
We hesitated for a moment. Should we open the door and let her in? It was cold outside, and she looked so cold and scared. Yet, we did not want to take her away from her family. After a brief discussion, we decided to help her.
Sliding the door open a sliver, I allowed Nate inside. She sounded very pleased to be going a warm location. Even wagging her tail and sniffing our living room! And it was obvious she desired new friends We gave her a bit of water and something small to eat. She lapped it up obediently, which made us chuckle.
Finding the Owner
Eventually, we looked at her collar tag. And a name and telephone number. So that we called the number. A sweet voice answered on the other end. And, as it happens, sweet Bella just happened to have gone missing after playing in the park that day.
When we informed her Bella was found she almost broke down in tears she so grateful. She quickly ran over and scooped up her dog. A delighted Bella ran into her owner’s arms when she arrived It made us feel nice to see.
We found that night animals in the dark road may not be all bad, a time comes to assist those less fortunate even when they are hairy. Just a nice easy special evening we will always remember.
